Joaquin's Recipe Of The Week: Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Right before I dropped Joaquin off at school I asked him “if you could make any recipe today what would it be?” He answered confidently “chocolate covered pretzels!”

Me and Luna got the ingredients and we were ready to bake when he got back!

One would think that melting chocolate and dipping pretzels in toppings would be easy, right? WRONG. The recipe said to melt chocolate chips….but instead of a nice creamy texture it just hardened into a ball. So we scrapped that batch and started over with the double boiler method. Still wrong. Then we added milk. Bad. Then we added butter. Not great, but the only batch that worked (Darren’s idea).

Side note: Whole Foods didn’t have the long pretzel sticks so we had to make do with small pretzels.

As the chocolate was still warm we dipped the pretzels into our toppings and let it dry on parchment paper. The toppings was definitely Joaquin’s favorite part.

Even though the recipe was a bit of a fail, we still had a lot of fun making it. We’ll see what he wants to make next week!
